To assist with weight loss, try working weight training into your daily life. The more muscle mass you have, the more calories you will burn. Combining weight training with proper cardiovascular exercise are not only great for your overall health, but perfect compliments to a healthy diet. Although muscle does weigh more than fat, it is really fat loss that you are desiring and not weight. Consult your doctor before any major changes in your routine.

2. Eat foods of the same flavor: If your dinner is composed of foods of different aroma, you are likely to gorge on all of them and overeat, thereby increasing your calorie intake. However, if you eat foods of the same flavor, you will pretty soon become bored with it and leave the dinner table sooner than you realize! Studies have pointed out that one can lose far more weight by doing weight lifting, sprinting or resistance training for a short time than by walking or jogging for a much  longer time -you may or may not believe it but this is a fact! High intensity exercises typically use up more energy than others, and the more energy you use the more fat your body will burn!

Cardio is a great way to shed those extra pounds quickly. These exercises make your heart beat faster and burn fat more quickly than strength training. Try any exercise that makes you sweat and gets your heart pumping to lose weight.

4. Sleep adequately: Late night projects or jobs that require you to burn the midnight oil might not be fit for you if you are looking forward to losing your pounds. People who don't sleep adequately gain more weight than others.

Exercise daily, even if you only have time to exercise for a few minutes. Permanent weight loss is not possible without some type of exercise. Exercise not only burns calories, it builds muscle. Since muscle burns fat it is important to build more muscle to achieve weight and fat loss.

5.  Eat spicy foods: You might have been forbidden by your doctor from eating spicy foods. Well, if you are looking forward to losing eight, then you need to reverse the rule by eating more and more spicy foods. Spice increases your metabolic rate like nothing else, and as you might know, increasing your metabolic rate is the sure shot way to fast weight loss. Not only that, spicy foods also immunizes you against several harmful disease such as diabetes, heart disease as well as Alzheimer's disease.

If all you need to take off is five pounds, hydration will get you most of the way there. If you drink about a half gallon of water daily for a week and decrease your food intake, you are going to lose water weight. You're not actually losing any fat with this method, but it will take off a bit of weight and get you motivated to lose more.
